PARK CITY’S 9/11

NATIONAL DAY OF

SERVICE & REMEMBERANCE

Our 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance was an incredible success thanks to our amazing volunteers. Together, we completed dozens of meaningful projects, supported local organizations, and strengthened our community in powerful ways. We’re already looking forward to next year—mark your calendars and join us as we continue honoring this day through service and unity.

Over 1,200 volunteers and 51 organizing partners, including 28 local nonprofits, participated in Park City’s second annual 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.

The day began at 8 a.m. with a free volunteer breakfast at City Park, donated by local businesses. Over 300 volunteers gathered for a remembrance program which included remarks from Co-Chairs Karen Marriott and Danny Glasser, followed by an inspiring speech given by Firefighter Bryson Allison. The Park City Police Department closed the ceremony with its solemn “Last Call” and PCHS student Coen Nelson played “Taps.”

Allison acknowledged in his speech, “I’m surrounded by hundreds of fellow community members all coming together today — not to avenge, not to perpetuate hate or resentment, but to simply do good for others.”

After the park, volunteers spread out to complete 35 projects between 9:30 a.m. and noon. The projects included yard and campus cleanups, picking up and cleaning up creeks, roads, bike paths, cemeteries, parks and open spaces. Kitchens were cleaned, warehouses sorted, yards maintained, and trees and pollinators planted. Volunteers stitched quilts, stuffed pillows, wrote letters, wove sleeping mats for the homeless, sorted eye glasses, and assembled pantry kits at the Park City Hospital. Others listened to a presentation and gave feedback, assist in making decorations for an upcoming event, and some attended to rescue animals. There was something for everyone, no matter your age or ability. Liz Anderson, the project organizer for Stitching Hearts said, ”The best part of the day was seeing people ranging from 3 year olds to 80+ working side by side with people of all abilities.”

Jen O’Brien, the executive director of Summit County Clubhouse remarked, “As important as the work rendered today is to our organizations is today, the exposure that our local nonprofits receive is equally as valuable.”
